The Transformative Power of API TransFusion

API TransFusion is a retreat for Asian and Pacific Islander transmasculine people to connect, build community, and share space across identities, experiences, and generations. Through workshops, conversations, and time together in nature, participants develop self-confidence, deepen self-understanding, and form meaningful relationships that extend beyond the retreat. The experience centers joy, authenticity, and collective care—creating a space where people can fully be themselves and leave feeling energized, supported, and proud.

Impact Summary

In 2025 post-retreat surveys, participants consistently described the experience as transformative, affirming, and deeply needed. Many arrived feeling isolated in their intersecting identities and left with a strong sense of belonging, connection, and possibility.

The retreat fosters lasting relationships, strengthens community networks, and creates space for healing, reflection, and joy. Attendees report increased confidence, a clearer sense of self, and a renewed commitment to living authentically—carrying the impact of the experience into their daily lives and communities.

Participant Reflections

“It can feel isolating to be trans and API… it’s really comforting to know that there are many other folks who share these identities and experiences.”

“I had some social anxiety the first day, but by midway through Saturday I was already feeling like, ‘These folks are part of my community. This is a space where I can thrive and be myself.’”

“This was the first time I’d been around more than one other Asian transmasc person… it was super affirming and healing to connect with a community I didn’t even know was out there.”

“I felt so much genuine love, generosity, care, and belonging. I felt really at home… I felt seen and heard in such a special way.”

“Incredibly life-giving… communities and spaces like these are urgently needed. They remind us that we have every right to exist, with joy, authenticity, and power.”

“This was such a transformative experience… the connections I’ve made aren’t confined to the retreat.”

“Nothing compares to having this kind of community cultivated in person. I’ll never forget that.”

“Affirming, illuminating, and fun… API TransFusion goes beyond by creating real, intergenerational community.”

“Full of community and belonging and connection… so grateful for this weekend and all the wonderful people I’ve met.”
